Things and things that bring richness to everyday life.

I feel like I'm drawn to honest adults who don't follow trends, but have a strong determination to do this.

Brooklyn Museum features people of interest.

This is a serial project that introduces people who are having fun, struggling, and envisioning their own futures.

Ms. Fumino Shiozaki
(Goen° Co., Ltd. Producer)

Fumino Shiozaki works as a producer at goen° Co., Ltd. Mr. Shiozaki, who has gained experience working with people who are active on the front lines of culture such as music, movies, and art direction, values the ``relationships'' that connect people. We spoke to him about his passion for the job and choosing things that allow him to be himself.

━First of all, Mr. Shiozaki, what kind of work do you do?

Mr. Shiozaki (hereinafter referred to as Shio): At a company called goen°, we do corporate advertising, associated graphic design, commercial production, logo production for corporate branding, and sometimes PR videos. In addition to creating artwork for musicians, we are also involved in a wide variety of activities, including assisting with community revitalization projects.

Recentlymono°goen°We have also launched an EC site.

━ The person in charge is the art director Chie Morimoto, right?

Salt: Yes. Our representative, Morimoto, is an art director and also holds the title of communication director, but he is truly good at connecting people and embodies the idea of creating connections.

Among them, I have the title of ``relationship producer,'' and I am responsible for management duties and managing the progress of the entire project.

━ Could you tell me how you came to this job?

Shio: Various experiences and connections have led me to where I am today, but since my early 20s I have always been conscious of ``connecting people'', and that's why goen°.When I came across the motto, ``Inventing encounters. Making dreams come true and connecting people,'' I thought it was perfect for what I had in mind.

Then, at my previous job, I happened to be asked to work at goen°, and the feelings I had originally thought were wonderful, and what I saw there, including the staff's behavior and the atmosphere of the office, turned into my love for goen°.

━ So you worked for people who are active at the forefront of creative fields in culture, such as music, film, and art directors.

Salt: Yes. These cultures have been an inseparable part of my life, and many of the people I have met along the way have been creative people, such as musicians. Tracing its roots, my grandfather was a stage director, so as a result of his influence, I naturally loved creating and writing from an early age.

I spent a long time serving customers in the food and beverage industry, but as the opportunities to come into contact with music increased year by year, I decided to pursue a career in the creative industry and entered this world.

━ I see. So, when do you feel fulfilled in your current job?

Shio: This applies to the company as a whole, but we place importance on taking all the work we receive from our customers and making them our own. Also, from the perspective of both the client and the customer, what kind of thoughts did you have in creating this product, and what is your worldview? What kind of person do you want to pick it up? What makes you happy when you receive it? I am always faced with various questions such as "?" and then carefully deliver the finished design to the client. I am a liaison between the client and the designer, so I feel that the more smoothly the project progresses in a time-constrained environment, the more satisfied I am.

When asked to design a project, it is common to propose two or three ideas, but at goen°, we create a proposal with more ideas than the client expected.

When you do this, your customers will be surprised and happy and will say, ``That's how much thought you put into it!'' Every time I witness a scene like this, I realize that I am doing a great job. To put it simply, it is an image of being close to the customer.

━ You want to see the happy faces of your customers, so you make it your own.

Salt: I think that's the first thing. Furthermore, I have seen that the thoughts that are born there are derived from ideas and designs that create new products, so I think that "personal" is a very important keyword.

━ So, what is important to you in your work?

Shio: I believe that any job is a service industry, so I try to be kind to others. The production industry is a job that requires consideration.

Even when a project is in progress, rather than leaving the proposal alone, you can send an email at random times and exchange a word or two, so that you can understand what they are thinking about right now, and you can catch up on what they have learned and incorporate it into the design. In this way, I believe that my important role is to maintain a good flow of communication between the customer and the production.

I think this will lead to the final product becoming more personal.

━ Do you have any common criteria when choosing things?

Salt: Simply put, choose something that makes you feel good. Also, it may be easier to pick up items that have a story or that show the creator's passion and roots. Although the appearance of things is important, such as the beauty of things, I also value the background of things.

Also, once you fall in love with a design, you often like it so much that you want to have it in different colors, so you will inevitably use it for a long time.

━ This is a different way of choosing than what is trending. It seems that you value the elements that make you feel comfortable.

Salt: Yes. I choose things based on who I am, not what's trending. It may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I think doing so will give you confidence, and it's also a tool to let the other person understand that ``this is my style.''

━ So, what do you think your own way of life is like?

Shio: Up until now, I've lived a life where being strict towards myself and others has been both a strength and a weakness. However, I am thinking of refraining from doing things that I don't feel comfortable doing.

Of course, being strict with yourself is serious in a sense and is considered a virtue, but if you limit or sacrifice something because of it, doesn't that lead to loving yourself? I've realized this over the past few years.

For example, most jobs require teamwork, and it doesn't mean you have to work hard on your own. Sometimes it's important not to push yourself too hard, and to rely on and be kind to others. I believe that by making yourself comfortable in this way, you will naturally lead to a life that suits you.

━ So you try to reward yourself from time to time, right?

Salt: Yes. I think it's a great reward to order something from the Brooklyn Museum and make something just for yourself. When you faithfully face what you want to do now, there are moments when it suddenly makes sense, and I value the accumulation of such things to liberate myself.

I am also conscious of being able to admit my mistakes. Instead of pushing myself hard and wondering why I couldn't do it, I started to think that it's important to change my mind and think, ``It's okay that I couldn't do it, so I'll try harder next time.''

━ Lastly, you only have one life to live, so how do you want to live it?

Shio: It means doing what you like as much as possible. I believe that the reality that is happening before my eyes is something that I create. In order to be happy, it's important to visualize what you want to be, and by doing so, I think you'll get closer to your ideal reality.

So, I would like to make the choice to be with the people I like and do the things I like.

My favorite items Top 3

FAVORITE1
Goen received from the representative

Shio: At work, I always carry a goen to hand out to people I have a “connection” with, along with my business card. This is the goen I received when I first met Morimoto after requesting a job at my previous job. I always carry this in my wallet.

I am now the one to give it to you, but I cherish it as something I received.

FAVORITE2
bethlehem pearl necklace

Salt: This is a necklace made from vintage pearls called Bethlehem pearls, which were made from the 1930s to the 1950s in Bethlehem, the place where Christ is said to have been born. These items were once owned by people in monasteries, and each item is hand-carved by a craftsman.

I saw this pearl featured on TV a while back, and I kept thinking, ``It's so wonderful. I want to meet it somewhere.'' One day, I discovered on my friend's Instagram that an exhibition was being held, and I thought, ``This is what I was looking for!'' so I immediately made a reservation for the exhibition, and that's where I finally found it.

This is also something that contains people's thoughts. When you wear it, you feel strangely protected.

FAVORITE3
corneille tableware series

This is a series of tableware sold by Corneille, a tableware shop in Oyamadai that I recently came across. I was reminded once again that eating a meal in a bowl that suits your tastes not only satisfies your stomach, but also your spirit. Even if I am not acquainted with the artist, I feel that the texture of the vessel gives me a vague idea of his personality.

My favorite Brooklyn museum

Shio: As I've gotten older, I've come to value the feeling of holding something of high quality, even if it means stretching my back a little, to lift my spirits and stretch my spine.

About 5 years ago, I was looking for a shop to make a wallet, and an acquaintance introduced me to a shop that made leather products to order, so I visited the Brooklyn Museum for the first time.

I was nervous about ordering a full product for the first time, but the owner himself explained the product very carefully, and I could feel his love for the product, so I definitely want to order from here! That thought led to our current relationship.

The wallet and coin purse I'm currently using are new this year.

━ It's a fresh item with beautiful colors.

Salt: That's right. This is actually the second generation, and I ordered the first one in the same color five or six years ago. I heard that this color is a color that revitalizes the economy, so if I were to have a long wallet, I would definitely want to choose this color.

Everything from the leather to the inner surface and the color of the threads can be completely customized, and thanks to Mr. Kusagaya, the representative and leather craftsman, who kindly listened to us, we were able to create exactly what we had in mind.

The first generation was getting dirty over time, so I took the plunge and had them make something almost exactly the same. The first generation had a bright cream color on the inside, but this time it's a rich navy, and the stitching matches the color on the outside.

━ So you ordered the coin purse in the same color.

Shio: Yes, the long wallet also has a coin purse, but when I put cards in it, it inevitably swells up, so I wanted to keep it separate, so I had a new coin purse made for me.

Basically, I don't want to carry around too much luggage, so when I go out for a while, this coin purse is all I need.

Both my long wallet and coin purse come in colors that are rarely seen outside, so I often receive compliments from people who call me out on them. It's also wonderful that it has a unique design in the world.
