Among the types of leather referred to as "alligator leather," only four species are specifically called crocodile: saltwater crocodile (small croco), New Guinea crocodile (large croco), Nile crocodile, and Siamese crocodile. Other species, such as alligators and caimans, are not referred to as crocodiles. Among these, the Nile crocodile is highly regarded worldwide for its well-balanced scales (pattern) and excellent leather condition.
